Collaboration Over Competition

Nike Plus Sizes

Hey y’all! I’m so excited for this post. Not only did I team up with one of my absolute favorite people in the world, but we collaborated wearing one of my favorite brands, Nike!

I got the opportunity to meet Kristina Zias last year at a shoot we did for Kohl’s and honestly fell in love with her. She’s super smart, incredibly talented, has a bomb personality, and is super nice. She’s exactly what she portrays online, which is so rare in this business. Since I’ve met her, she’s inspired me to keep going harder for what I want. That Jersey hustle in her is so real. Before the pandemic happened, she was in the process of leading first-time runners with their first marathon. Something I’ve secretly always wanted to do. When I told her how inspired I was by her doing this marathon, and how I wanted to do it, she immediately supported me. She gave me advice and even told me apps that help with first-time runners. She comes across so fearless, but also open and honest about her past struggles. She’s so beyond dope.

When everything happened a few weeks ago with everyone “sharing the mic” and showing black creators, Kristina did that and more. We had a great conversation about the state of things and ways we all could be better at supporting each other. Anytime someone asked her for advice or help, she’s given it freely without wanting anything in return.

While everyone was scrambling to support black creators, she was already doing that. There have been a few white creators who said let’s collaborate, and when I said sure, it never happened. However, that was not the case with her.  She has seen my obsession with sneakers and athleisure and suggested we collaborate with pieces from Nike. If you’ve been following me for a while, you KNOW my obsession with Nike is so real. I was too excited to do this with her.  Nike was kind enough to send us some pieces for us to style in our own way.

I love Kristina’s style. She’s so effortlessly cool and dope with it. She’s a Jersey girl with some touches of laid back Cali. Her swag is definitely showing in every look. She has this way of making you want to buy everything she wears.

We both received similar pieces and I was curious to see if we would style them the same, and we didn’t lol. I would totally rock it how she did.

I am a southern girl who has lived in Brooklyn for almost 10 years, and I think my style reflects that. I absolutely love what Nike has done with its plus size section. It’s one of the rare brands that actually has cute pieces in sizes above a 20, and they showcase that in advertisements.

The fit is on point. I’m wearing a 2xl in everything which is a 20-22. Some pieces are from their “straight section,” which is a cut smaller than their standard plus, but definitely look up the size chart before you purchase.

Some of the pieces we are wearing are sold out, but below are a few of my favorites on the site right now.
